The Matrix Reloaded 3D Screen Saver
If you have a nice fast system and a 3D video card, I recommend Useless Creations' excellent The Matrix Revolutions 3D Screensaver. Download it at http://www.uselesscreations.com/matrix . It's freeware and it works great with Windows XP!

clip from Steve Oedekerk's feature film satire Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (2002).

The Matrix Screen Saver
If you have a more modest system and you are running Windows 95-98, this simple screen saver does the nice falling green code effect you saw in The Matrix. (Not mine, BTW, but I thought you might like it.) Click the filename below to download the SS.

matrix.txt (1KB - text file repeating instructions shown below. Right-click to download, or left-click to print.)
To Install:
Unzip the zip file.
Put the files glyph2.ani and Matrix
Code Emulator.scr from the zip file into your Windows directory.
Right click on the Windows desktop.
Select Properties.
Select Screen Saver tab.
In the Screen Saver drop down menu, select Matrix Code
Emulator.
Pleez Note:
If you get a Windows message box that says "[DDrawmanager:CreateDirectDraw]
Color mode not supported", DON'T PANIC, just ignore it and click OK
to close the message. (This seems to be a harmless bug in the SS.)
Click Preview to see the screen saver, etc.
The Settings button allows you to change the number of vertical lines of falling
"code" and the number of "highlighted" elements. (You can
lower the first settings to make it move faster and for slower systems.)
To Uninstall:
To remove, go into your Windows directory and find and delete the files: glyph2.ani and Matrix Code Emulator.scr
